Camping!

A couple of weekends ago Josh and I packed up the boys and went camping!
We were all very excited to go camping and were optimistic that the weather would hold out in our favor. We packed up all of our stuff (which, by the way, was SO MUCH STUFF!!! Who knew it took so much to go camping!) and away we drove!

The boys were getting very restless after the 2+hour drive to our campgrounds!
They were extremely excited to get out and stretch their legs!

 Our lovely campsite!!! How cozy!

 And what's camping without s'mores!!!

 So very, very messy...

The night we got there, Friday night, the weather was perfect! It was hot and we got to go swimming and have a very peaceful campfire. When we tucked everyone into bed that night it was still very warm so we didn't load ourselves up with blankets as to not sweat in the middle of the night.

Then, I woke up in the middle of the night and the entire world had turned into an ice box. I crawled out of bed, threw blanket after blanket on top of my boys and then asked Josh to go to the car and get whatever blankets he could find in there that we hadn't brought into our tent yet. We all got as warm as we could and fell back asleep.

We woke up a couple of hours later to rain. And it rained and it rained and it rained. Did I mention it rained? We were cold. Our tent leaked in a few places. We were cold. My bed was a little wet. Gabriel's bed was wet. We ate in our tent the whole day to get out of the wet and cold.
Did I mention we were cold?

This would be Gabriel, trying to get me out of bed in the morning. Not happening.

But the rain stopped mid morning and though it was too cold to go swimming we were able to do lots of other fun things. The boys love anything to do with water and dirt, so playing in puddles and getting absolutely filthy was heaven for them!

Then we decided to go fishing!
This is what Eli thought of a life jacket :)

 Waiting and waiting...

 Eli's idea of fishing!

And we caught one! Gabriel's first fish ever!

We had a campfire that night. It was a challenge to light a fire due to all the rain so things were a little smokey. Gabriel insisted that he could fight smoke and get it to disappear... he tried for awhile before he gave up and the smoke won :) It sure was cute to watch though!

And the next day, Sunday, was beautiful! A picture perfect day!
We got up, packed up our campsite and went fishing!

We even got to eat outside one last time in the glorious weather before heading home! It was a great weekend even if the weather didn't fully cooperate and we all had lots of fun!
