Surprise!!!

I have been crazy busy this week. I've done more baking this week then I have done in a long time but I like I said in my last post, I loved it! Not only did I bake cupcakes, tortes, cookies, and banana bread, I also baked even more cupcakes and a cake!

My sister-in-law Tia is from England and she has decided to become a U.S. Citizen sooo.... my awesome brother decided to throw her a surprise party! How cute is that? I think it's cute :) Anyway, so I was put in charge of making the cake. I was more then happy to do it!

I made the cake and cupcakes the day before her surprise party, then we got up the next morning, packed up and drove down to Brainerd to scream 'surprise' when she walked through the door :) I wish I would have been able to get a picture of the event but I forgot my camera.

It was an extremely fun day and I got to see a lot of family members that I haven't seen in awhile.

Congrats Tia on becoming a U.S. Citizen!

*Sorry for the not so wonderful lighting in the picture. If you can't tell, the cupcakes are red velvet with blue holders and cream cheese frosting with a gold sugar craft star on each one. The inside of the cake was french vanilla with buttercream and chocolate with chocolate ganache.

yummm.......

I love to bake. It's probably not a secret though :) What I love even more then baking is baking for other people! I love to surprise people with baked goodies or bake for get togethers. This week I got to do both! On tuesday I went to my mom's group and it was our last day for the season, so I decided to make cupcakes for everyone!

There was red velvet and french vanilla cupcakes topped with whipped cream and vanilla frosting with a snowy theme. It was fun and it turned out to be a perfect theme considering it snowed that day!

The second set of things I baked was for a couple of boxes that I was going to give people. I really like to surprise people with boxes full of goodies so I made this chocolate truffle torte with sugar craft daisies...

... and tucked it inside one of the boxes. I hope the family that got it likes it!

That's what I've been doing this weekend! And I loved it!

1 Peter 3:4

Rather, it should be that of your inner self,
the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit,
which is of great worth in God’s sight.

pointless facts

My mind is full of pointless facts. Seriously, I remember the oddest things. It would be helpful if the random facts were about something useful, like math or science or history, but no. I can't tell you what the plural of a radius is (ha! I looked that up so I would look smart that I at least knew a mathematical term! Wait. Probably shouldn't have said that, now I don't look so smart anymore! I hate math by the way, just putting that out there), what the scientific symbol of mercury is, or the exact dates the Revolutionary War started.

So what are the pointless facts I remember? Things about people lives that I will probably never need to use in my life. For instance one day, after my sister and brother-in-law had been married for a few years, she was trying to think about her hubby's first girlfriends name. I knew the name. I had only heard the name one time like 1-2 years prior, but I remembered.

I can also tell you exactly what a hitch hiker my parents picked up was wearing when I was 5 years old and what day of the year it was. I can remember the month, if not the day, that most people that I know were born. Ok, maybe not most people, maybe like 65%. I can tell you what my uncle was putting together in his office the one time we visited when I was one or two years old... and the color of his carpet. I can tell you the license plate number of a car that I was following the other day, and not because it was some funny license plate number, really it was just all numbers, 720-952. Why? I don't know. I just saw it, so I remembered it. I just hear things or see things, and they stick... FOREVER! Once it's in my head, it normally doesn't leave.

And why am I thinking about this on this particular morning? Because I'm going to to go into town today and I will drive past one of my doctors offices and all that comes to mind right now is that doctors favorite breakfast food. Creepy? I think so too.

I'm like one of those nerds in high school that can pump out tons of information that no one cares about and they have no idea where in the brain of the nerd it came from. Yep. I'm a nerd.

What can I say? I'm my fathers daughter sometimes, Mr. knows-the-world's-exact-population-in-1970something-or other.

my mom shot a bear...

So my mom shot a teddy bear. Actually she shot it a few weeks ago but I haven't got around to showing you pictures. Here they are...

See, it's just a extremely large black bear.

We may or may not be giving her a hard time about shooting Winnie the Pooh this particular bear. *Wink Wink*

So there it is! My mom shot a bear!

FYI. My mom refused to be in any of the pictures with her new stuffed animal ;)
